Civilian Recruitment and Selection Process

Recruitment

  • To apply for a civilian position at the Guelph Police Service, submit a detailed resume and cover letter. Be sure to include all pertinent information relating to your education and work experience.
  • Resumes can be submitted by email, fax 519-766-7798 or mailed or dropped off to 15 Wyndham St., South, Guelph, ON N1E 7J4, Attention: Human Resources.
  • Resumes are kept on file for a period of one year.
  • We thank all interested applicants, however only those who will be invited in to take part in the interview process will be contacted.

Selection

Civilian vacancies are filled through a competition process. The successful candidate will be determined based on best overall suitability for a position which is determined through the following steps:

  • Testing- Job specific tests will be administered if required to measure an applicant’s skills.
  • Interview- A panel interview will assess whether the candidate has the essential competencies required for the position.
  • Medical Assessment- Some positions require a medical assessment and/or a psychological assessment.
  • Background/Security Clearance- This stage includes criminal history checks, reference checks, verification of education qualifications and employment history checks.
  • Offer of employment- The successful candidate will be presented with an offer of employment.
