At Guelph Police Service we have four different Special Constable positions:

To be considered for a Special Constable Position with the Guelph Police Service, applicants must possess a valid Special Constable or Police Constable Test Results Profile obtained through Applicant Testing Services or possess current Use of Force qualifications.

Special Constable- Court Security Position Summary

To provide security for all court rooms and buildings, and to ensure the safety and well-being of prisoners (Adult and Young Offenders). Act as liaison with Crown Attorneys/Prosecutors/Defence Counsel, as well as the public, as appropriate.

Special Constable- Custody/Reception Position Summary

To provide front desk reception, telephone support to the Guelph Police Service and cell custodian duties. Under the direction of the Platoon Supervisor, the Special Constable, Custody/Reception will assist police personnel in physically searching and caring for prisoners in the holding cells as well as process first level complaints and inquiries from the public when performing reception duties. This position is accountable for assisting with preparation and issuance of court documentation.

Special Constable- Summons & Warrants- Position Summary

To serve and track documents including summonses, subpoenas, disclosure, and Provincial Offence Notices for the GPS and other police services, and execute committal warrants.

Special Constable- CopLogic/LiveScan- Position Summary

Perform fingerprinting using ink and electronic capture systems for individuals applying for: foreign travel, passports, work permits, VISAs and waivers, child adoption, background checks, security clearance, citizenship, permanent resident and immigration checks, vulnerable sector, etc. Incumbent may also be asked to fingerprint and photograph individuals pursuant to the Identification of Criminals Act. Provide support to CopLogic system.
