Record Suspension Applications (Formerly Known as Pardons)

What is it?

  • If you have been free of criminal convictions for a period of time you may apply for a record suspension.
  • The Record Suspension Application Guide and Forms are available from the Parole Board of Canada.
  • The process is very basic and easy enough for anyone to do.  Using a lawyer will not speed up the process of obtaining a record suspension.

Cost

  • The Parole Board of Canada charges their own fee which you will submit directly to them with your application.
  • The Guelph Police Service charges $55.00 for fingerprinting and $50.00 for processing the Local Record Check form found in The Record Suspension Application Guide and Forms which are available from the Parole Board of Canada.
  • On January 1, 2018, Record Suspension fees will increase from $50 to $70.
