Male Assaulted

On July 29th, 2020, at approximately 4:40pm, the victim was approached by the accused, a 36 year old Guelph male, behind a local business on Clair Road. The accused proceeded to walk within inches of the victim with a clenched fist and pushed it into the victims face. The accused began to punch the victim in the face multiple times with a closed fist causing him to retreat and constantly back away. The altercation lasted approximately one minute and the accused struck the victim in excess of five times. The victim did not suffer serious injuries as result of this incident and the parties involved were known to one another. Police have arrested and charged the accused with Assault CC. 266. The accused was released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of November 3rd, 2020, at 9:00am.

Theft Over $5,000

On July 29th, 2020, sometime between 8:00am and 8:45am, an unknown suspect entered a contractor vehicle, a Ford Transit van, located near the intersection of Paisley Street and Dublin Street North. The suspect stole $8400 in cash and a business cheque for approximately $12,000 from inside the vehicle. Police are still investigating the incident.

Operation While Impaired

On July 29th, 2020, at approximately 9:54pm, Police came in contact with the accused, a 58 year old Guelph female, while operating a motor vehicle in the downtown core. Police had been dealing with the same female in a prior incident where she had admitted to consuming alcohol throughout the evening. A breath demand was issued by Police and the accused provided a sample of her breath into the approved screening device which resulted in a fail. The accused was subsequently charged with Operation While Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration contrary to s. 320.14 of the Criminal Code of Canada. She was later released on an Undertaking with a court date of October 6th, 2020.
