Young driver arrested for impaired driving

On May 16, 2019 at 2:20 a.m., Guelph Police went to a location on Victoria Road South to investigate the report of a possible impaired driver. Police located the motor vehicle and driver and a roadside test with an approved screening device was conducted. A fail was indicated and an arrest was made.

The 16-year-old Guelph youth has been charged with Operate Conveyance at 80mg or Above – Alcohol. Charges under the Highway Traffic Act were also laid,  Novice Driver – BAC Above Zero and Class G1 Licence Holder- unaccompanied by qualified driver. The youth will appear in court on May 29, 2019.    

 

Police investigate report of a child being struck by car

On May 15, 2019, the Guelph Police received the report that at approximately 3:15-3:30 pm, a child was struck while crossing Willow Road at Applewood Drive, by a black four door automobile. The child had been knocked down; briefly spoke to the driver and then they both parted ways.

Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed this collision, the driver of the automobile, or anyone who may know the identity of either the child or driver.

Two car collision

On May 15, 2019, Guelph Police investigated a collision on Gordon Street South. Investigation determined that at approximately 8:20 p.m., a white Hyundai motor vehicle travelling north on Gordon street, near Kortright Road was struck by a white Honda motor vehicle travelling south on Gordon street.  

The lone occupant of the Hyundai, a 46-year-old Guelph female, was transported to Guelph General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released.

The driver of the Honda, a 21-year-old Rockwood male, and several other occupants were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Investigation is ongoing; however, police anticipate charges being laid as a result. Police would also like to thank the numerous witnesses that remained on scene to provide assistance.

 

Three arrested on warrants

A 33-year-old Guelph man arrested on a warrant for breach probation. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

A 30-year-old Guelph man arrested on a Halton Regional Police warrant for mischief under. He was turned over to Halton Police.

A 53-year-old Guelph man arrested on a warrant for assault police. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Break and enter

On May 15, 2019, the Guelph Police went to an Arthur Street North residence for the report of a break and enter. Entry was gained through a window and a theft of a television and camping bags is reported.

Break and enter

On May 15, 2019, the Guelph Police received the report of a break and enter at a Delhi Street residence. The culprit(s) gained entry to the shed and stole a bicycle.
