Multiple Trespass Charges Laid

In January 2020, the Guelph Police Service began investigating multiple complaints of aggressive and inappropriate panhandling at various locations throughout the City of Guelph. The investigation identified a single individual as allegedly being responsible in each instance.   

On June 10, 2020, following a lengthy investigation, Guelph Police have charged a 49 year old male with numerous charges under the Trespass to Property Act, the Safe Streets Act and the Criminal Code.   He will appear in Guelph Court on September 22, 2020. 

Robbery Arrest

On June 12, 2020, at approximately 10:14 a.m., the Guelph Police Service responded to the report of a Robbery at an address on Gordon Street near Edinburgh Road South in the City of Guelph.  Police located the adult male victim outside the address with an injury to his shoulder.  The victim had allegedly been struck with a weapon by a male known to him and had a number of items stolen.  The victim was transported to the Guelph General Hospital where he received treatment and was released.

A 19 year old Guelph male has been charged with Robbery, Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Utter Threats and Breach Probation – 2 counts.  The accused was held in custody pending a Bail Hearing. 

Recovered Stolen Motor Cycle

On June 12, 2020, at approximately 12:35 p. m., Guelph Police were in the area of Delaware Avenue and Algonquin Drive conducting an investigation when they located a stolen motor cycle.   The 1994 Honda CBR900, had been stolen from a Guelph residence on June 10, 2020.  A forensic investigation was completed on the motor cycle and then returned to the owner.

Store Clerk Coughed At

On June 12, 2020, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Guelph Police Service responded to the report of an incident at a retail location in Stone Road Mall, Guelph.   It is alleged that a male customer refused to wear a face covering when asked to by a store employee.  As the male existed the store he coughed in the direction of the store clerk and left the mall.

Vehicle Struck by Pellets

On June 12, 2020, at approximately 2:04 p.m., the Guelph Police Service responded to the report of a moving vehicle being struck by what is believed to be pellets from a pellet gun. The victim was turning from Gordon Street to Maltby Road in the City of Guelph, when the rear cap window of his truck was smashed out.   The truck also sustained two small holes in the passenger side of the vehicle.  A male was observed fleeing from the area on foot with what is believed to be a black hand gun (pellet).

The victim was not injured.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle

On June 13, 2020, at approximately 11:54 a.m., the Guelph Police Service were called to check on a suspicious vehicle on Jane Street in the City of Guelph.   Upon arrival, Police discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen from a Guelph residence on June 7, 2020.  Also located on and in the vehicle were a number of stolen Ontario licence plates.

Speed Enforcement Leads to Arrest for Impaired

On June 14, 2020, at approximately 3:26 p.m., members of the Guelph Police Service Traffic Unit were conducting speed enforcement on Speedvale Avenue West near Glenwood Drive in the City of Guelph.   Upon stopping a motor vehicle for speeding, the Officer formed grounds to believe the driver had consumed alcohol and a Roadside Approved Screening Device was administered.   

A 44 year old Guelph male has been charged with Operation While Impaired, Blood Alcohol Concentration, Speeding and Novice Driver, B.A.C. Above Zero.   He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on July 14, 2020. 

  Break and Enter Caught on Camera

On June 14, 2020, at approximately 8:11 p.m., the Guelph Police Service were called to an address on Waverley Drive in the City of Guelph.  The complainant was calling from a separate location and advised Police that they were currently viewing live video of a break and enter to a residential property.  As Police surrounded the home, a male opened the front door and was placed under arrest without incident. 

A 28 year old Guelph male has been charged with Break and Enter.  He was held for a Bail Hearing.
