Pair arrested following disturbance

A male and female were both arrested by officers investigating a disturbance at a downtown apartment building Monday.

Police were called to the building approximately 9:45 a.m. On arrival officers noticed a male standing outside and learned he was wanted on an outstanding warrant. He was arrested, and a search incident to arrest revealed a knife inside his pocket contrary to a release condition banning him from possessing weapons.

Inside the building officers spoke to a female who is bound by two different release conditions with terms not to attend that address.

A 33-year-old Guelph male is charged with breaching a release order. A 27-year-old Guelph female is charged with two counts of breaching an undertaking. Both were held for bail hearings Tuesday.

 

Vehicle sought after pedestrian struck

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a driver fled after striking a pedestrian Monday evening.

Approximately 6:25 p.m. Monday, a 19-year-old male was crossing in the crosswalk at Gordon Street and Poppy Drive when he was hit by a black sedan. After the collision the driver of the vehicle got out and identified herself as Sophia, but then left the scene without providing any more information.

Knife pulled on teenaged egger

A Guelph male faces a weapons charge after a knife was pulled on a teenaged girl who egged his house Monday night.

Approximately 9:30 p.m., a 14-year-old girl and two friends threw eggs at a house near York Road and Victoria Road South. The three were followed to a nearby convenience store where they were buying more eggs and were confronted by a tenant of the egged house.

The victim observed the male holding a knife in his hand while yelling at her. She was able to get away and call 911. The male was located at his residence and arrested.

An 18-year-old male is charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He will appear in a Guelph court April 28, 2023.
