BB gun attracts weapons charges

A Guelph male faces weapons charges after a realistic-looking BB gun was brought into a downtown office complex Monday.

Just before 5 p.m. the Guelph Police Service was called to an office on Wyndham Street North regarding a male with a handgun. Staff had seen a male removing a handgun from his backpack and tucking it into his belt.

Officers arrived minutes later and found the male still seated inside. A black Beretta-style BB gun was recovered.

A 33-year-old Guelph male is charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a firearm contrary to a prohibition order. He will appear in a Guelph court July 26, 2022.

 

$10k in equipment stolen during break-in

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after more than $10,000 in equipment was stolen from a construction site over the weekend.

Police received a call Monday morning to attend a site near Westmount Road and London Road. The complainant indicated two storage containers were entered sometime since Friday and a large quantity of plumbing materials – including more than 600 valves - were stolen.

The incident remains under investigation. Stolen truck, copper wiring located

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a stolen pickup was recovered Monday.

Police were asked to check a commercial parking lot near Woodlawn Road West and Imperial Road North. A 2019 Ford F150 which had been reported stolen from another jurisdiction was reportedly showing at that location via its GPS unit. Officers located the truck unoccupied and observed the bed to be full of suspected stolen copper wire.

It was seized for a forensic examination.
