Charges after male and dog assaulted
A Guelph female faces charges after a male and his dog were both assaulted Thursday afternoon.
Approximately 4:40 p.m., a male was walking his dog downtown when a female unknown to him approached and began throwing flowers at the dog. The male asked her to stop, at which point the female kicked the dog in the snout causing it to yelp in pain.
When the male started calling 911, the female slapped him in the face then walked away. She was located by officers minutes later.
A 30-year-old Guelph female is charged with assault and cruelty to animals. Investigation revealed the female is already facing an assault charge after a stranger was punched in the neck earlier this month outside a west-end business. She was held for a bail hearing Friday.
Weapons, drug charges following arrest
A Guelph male faces weapons and drug charges after he was arrested Thursday on an outstanding warrant.
Just after 8 a.m., a Guelph Police Service officer on patrol downtown spotted a male known to be wanted on several outstanding charges, including break and enter and failing to appear in court.
The male was placed under arrest on the warrant. A search incident to arrest revealed a black bb gun, a contaminated digital scale, a small amount of suspected fentanyl, drug paraphernalia and a Visa card in a female’s name.
A 39-year-old Guelph male is further charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possessing controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking and possessing a stolen credit card. He was held for a bail hearing and has been released to appear in a Guelph court June 16, 2023.
$15k in tools stolen from truck
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after approximately $15,000 worth of tools were stolen from a vehicle this week.
Wednesday afternoon, police were called to a residence near Nottingham Street and Dublin Street South. A work truck in the driveway had been entered the tools including saws, drills and hand tools were stolen. Most of the tools are red and black Milwaukee brand.
