Man arrested for break-in to shed
A Guelph man has been arrested in connection with a break and enter in late October.
Approximately 8 a.m. October 29, two men attended an address on Speedvale Avenue East. While one kept watch on the driveway, the other entered a shed and stole a quantity of tools and welding equipment. These were handed to the lookout, who left the area on a bicycle.
The second male re-entered the shed and stole more tools before also leaving on his bicycle. The stolen items were valued at $1,200.
On Monday afternoon one of the males was located during an unrelated call for service and arrested. A 47-year-old Guelph man is charged with break and enter. He will appear in court January 10. The second male has not yet been located.
Snapchat ‘joke’ catches INTERPOL’s attention
A Guelph teen learned a lesson about being careful what she posts online after an ill-advised ‘joke’ caught the eye of INTERPOL on Monday.
Approximately 5:35 p.m. Monday the Guelph Police Service was notified by INTERPOL of a Snapchat story which referenced a school shooting. Officers spoke to the teen in the presence of her mother and she was very remorseful and stated the comment was intended only as a joke.
Residents are reminded to be careful what they post online as their words can be misinterpreted and cause concern in the wider community.
Trailer and equipment stolen from college
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a trailer containing teaching models was stolen from Conestoga College’s Guelph campus.
On Monday afternoon police were notified of the theft, which occurred just after 7 a.m. Sunday at the Speedvale Avenue West campus. The black enclosed trailer has ‘Conestoga College Motive Power’ on the outside.
It contained several cut-away models used in teaching. The trailer and contents are valued at $35,000.
