Public Tips Leads To Impaired Driving Arrests

On September 11th, 2021, at 2:19am, a concerned member of the public notified the Guelph Police Service regarding a possibly impaired adult male driving a motor vehicle near the intersection of Gordon Street and Oak Street in the City of Guelph. The male was observed driving the vehicle erratically without its headlights on, swerving from lane to lane.

At 2:23am, police found the vehicle parked in a commercial parking lot located near the intersection of Kortright Road West and Edinburgh Road South. Police spoke with the male and he was subsequently arrested.

A 24 year old Brampton male has been charged with:
-Operation While Impaired - Alcohol
-Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration

His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

He will appear in court on October 8th.

On September 12th, 2021, at 6:48pm, a concerned member of the public notified the Guelph Police Service regarding a possibly impaired adult male who had just parked a motor vehicle in a parking lot located near the intersection of Woodlawn Road West and Woolwich Street in the City of Guelph.

At 6:58pm, police located the vehicle.

At 7:11pm, police located the male in the nearby area. Police spoke with the male and he ultimately failed an Approved Screening Device roadside breath test. He was subsequently arrested.

Further investigation revealed that the male’s driver’s licence was already suspended due to being charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration on June 26th, 2021.

A 54 year old Guelph male has been additionally charged with:
-Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration
-Driving While Under Suspension

His driver’s licence was suspended for another 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

He will appear in court on December 28th.

Female With Knife Arrested

On September 11th, 2021, at 7:20pm, an adult female was walking near the intersection of Stone Road West and Scottsdale Drive in the City of Guelph while waving around a black folding knife. She approached an unknown adult male who was seated on a bicycle. She then proceeded to accuse him of cutting her off, stabbed the front tire of the bicycle and threw the knife at him while the blade was open. The knife missed him, she picked it up and continued walking.

She attended to a nearby commercial parking lot and used the knife to make two scratches along the sides of a parked motor vehicle. The scratches were 30 cm and 15 cm in length.

She then attended to another nearby commercial parking lot and used the knife to scratch the hood of a second parked motor vehicle. The scratch was 45 cm in length.

At 7:26pm, police located her in the area and she was subsequently arrested.

A 28 year old female from Guelph-Eramosa Township has been charged with:
-Possession Of A Weapon For A Dangerous Purpose
-Assault With A Weapon
-Mischief Under $5,000 x2

She was held in custody pending a bail hearing on September 13th.

Multiple Stolen Vehicles

Some time overnight on September 12th, 2021, a white 2018 Lexus RX5 was taken from a residential parking lot located near the intersection of Woodlawn Road East and Victoria Road North in the City of Guelph.

On September 13th, 2021, at 2:54am, a white 2018 Lexus DZG was taken from the driveway of a residence located near the intersection of Victoria Road South and Clair Road East in the City of Guelph.

Motor Vehicle Collision

On September 12th, 2021, shortly after 10pm, a motor vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Woodlawn Road West and Arrow Road in the City of Guelph. The collision involved a gray Toyota four door motor vehicle and a white Dodge pick up truck, and resulted in minor injuries.

Police are looking to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision.

Motor Vehicle Collision Leads To Arrest

On September 12th, 2021, at 12:15am, an adult male driving a motor vehicle near the intersection of Ironwood Road and Reid Court in the City of Guelph mounted a curb and collided with numerous objects including a bus stop shelter. There were no injuries resulting from the collision.

Police arrived on scene, spoke with the male and he ultimately performed poorly in a Standard Field Sobriety Test. He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Guelph Police Service station where he was further evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert.

A 43 year old Guelph male has been charged with:
-Operation While Impaired - Drug
-Dangerous Driving

He will appear in court October 12th.

His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
