Drug Unit/ Heat Unit make arrests


On September 10, 2019, the HEAT unit (High Enforcement Action Team) using information received from the Drug Unit went to the to locate a wanted female in the West end of the city. At 1:54 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted in the area of Inkerman Street and Alma Street. The female who was a passenger in the vehicle was arrested without incident. Search incident to arrest located three prohibited knives and a large quantity of various controlled substances. Subsequently, the male driver of the vehicle was also arrested. Over $13,000 in drugs were seized including Crystal Meth, Cocaine/Crack Cocaine, Oxycodone, Percocet, Tylenol 3 and Cannabis. Over $1,200 was also seized.     

                      

The 30-year-old Guelph female has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking X 3, breach probation, possession of a prohibited weapon X 3, possession for the purpose of selling Cannabis, possession of illicit Cannabis as well as breach probation on the warrant.  She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The 33-year-old Guelph male has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking X 3,  possession of a prohibited weapon X 3, possession for the purpose of selling Cannabis, possession of illicit Cannabis as drive while under suspension (HTA). He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Suspicious vehicle – driver arrested

 On September 10, 2019 at 12:45 a.m., Guelph Police investigated a suspicious vehicle in the area of 5 Edinburgh Road South. A traffic stop was conducted and the investigation led to a large quantity of Cannabis being observed within the vehicle. The male driver was arrested and 573.8 grams of Cannabis was seized.

The 27-year-old Hamilton man has been charged with possession for purpose of distributing – Cannabis. He will appear in court on September 24, 2019.

Traffic stop for speeding leads to arrest 

On September 10, 2019 at 10:02 p.m., Guelph Police stopped a motor vehicle on Victoria Road North for speeding. In speaking to the male driver, an odour of an alcoholic beverage was detected and a demand for a roadside test was made. The driver refused and was arrested.

The 31-year-old Mississauga man has been charged with refuse to provide breath sample as well as speeding under the HTA. His drivers licence has been suspended for 90 days. He will appear in court on October 24, 2019.

Busy shift for arrests on warrants

On September 10, 2019 the Guelph Police arrested seven individuals wanted on warrants.
