Celebrating National Police Week

During National Police Week the Guelph Police Service is proud to recognize the work of our sworn and civilian members and the community partners who work alongside them to keep Guelph safe.  

“On behalf of our senior leadership team, thank you to every member of our Service for the professionalism, compassion and dedication you bring to your work each day,” said Chief of Police Gord Cobey. “Policing is a collaborative, community-focused profession - and a rewarding career for those who want to make a difference in their community.” 

National Police Week runs May 10 to 16 and this year’s provincial theme is “Protecting Ontario through Service.” In Guelph, that service is delivered in partnership - working with residents, community agencies and other first responders to: 

• Prevent harm 

• Protect people and property 

• Support people in crisis  

• Promote safety and wellbeing 

The Guelph Police Service is focused on delivering modern, effective and community-focused policing. The Service is committed to earning and maintaining public trust through transparency and accountability, while ensuring its members have the training, tools and support they need to meet the community’s changing needs. 

“We are committed to modern, accountable policing that delivers measurable results for our community,” added Cobey, “Public Safety is a shared responsibility, strengthened through partnerships and trust.” 

Throughout the week, the Guelph Police Service is excited to highlight the many ways our members support the community, including the people, partnerships and work that often happens behind the scenes. Police Week in Ontario is sponsored by the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General and the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police and is part of National Police Week led by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police.
