Guelph child exploitation investigation leads to arrest in Calgary

An undercover investigation by the Guelph Police Service has led to a Calgary man’s arrest on child pornography and luring charges.

In early September, a Guelph Police officer posing as a 13-year-old girl began an online chat with an adult male, during which the male sent photos of himself and spoke of wanting to meet an underage girl for sex.

During the investigation it was determined the male was located in Calgary and the investigative file was forwarded to the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) Internet Child Exploitation Unit.

A 44-year-old Calgary man was arrested Wednesday and faces several charges, including making and distributing child sexual abuse and exploitation material (formerly known as child pornography) and luring a child under 16. The investigation is ongoing.
