Robbery charge after backpack stolen

A Guelph boy is charged with robbery after another teen had his backpack stolen Wednesday.

During the lunch break several teens from a Guelph high school were in a nearby plaza when one was assaulted and had his backpack stolen. The victim was not physically injured.

Later in the afternoon officers attended an address in the east end where a 16-year-old boy was arrested for robbery. He will appear in court June 10. (Occurrence number GU26027776)

Wire theft causes thousands in damage

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after the theft of a few feet of copper wire caused thousands of dollars in damage to a west-end business.

On Tuesday officers were called to a business near Willow Road and Silvercreek Parkway North. The cables from the main building to an exterior trash compactor had been cut and removed. It is believed the theft occurred sometime between Sunday evening and Monday evening. The repair will cost more than $5,000.

Assault, mischief charges after disturbance

A Guelph woman faces assault and mischief charges following a disturbance Wednesday afternoon.

Approximately 1:20 p.m. police were called to a supportive housing residence. Staff reported a client had become enraged and tried to attack staff by throwing glass jars at them. She also smashed jars all over the house and caused an estimated $1,000 in damage to a door trying to access a staff area.

The woman was located in her bedroom and arrested.

A 21-year-old Guelph woman is charged with assault with a weapon, mischief under $5,000, uttering threats and breaching a probation order. She was held for a bail hearing Thursday. (Occurrence number GU26027779)
