Woman robbed while walking

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a woman reported being robbed while she walked on a north-end sidewalk Tuesday morning.

Approximately 10:40 a.m. the victim called police. She had been walking near Speedvale Avenue East and Stevenson Street North when she was approached by another woman, who pushed the victim in the chest and stole her purse. The victim tried to chase the woman, who removed a wallet and discarded the purse and other contents.

The victim was not physically injured. Her wallet – with the cash and bank cards missing – was later located on Metcalfe Street.

The suspect was described as a white female in her 30s, 5’3” with a heavy build and dark brown hair in a bun. She was wearing a black t-shirt, black pants and black shoes and carrying several duffle bags.

Weapons charges following altercation

A Guelph man faces weapons and other charges following an altercation Tuesday afternoon at a west-end apartment building.

Just after noon the man was involved in a verbal altercation with children playing outside the building, yelling and using racial slurs. His behaviour attracted the attention of other residents, who came downstairs to separate the man from the children.

The man removed a large knife from his pocket and began threatening the witnesses before fleeing into the building. He was arrested by members of the Guelph Police Service Tactics and Rescue Unit. During the investigation officers recovered two knives and a BB gun.

A 35-year-old Guelph man is charged with two counts each of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats, mischief to property and three counts of breaching a probation order. He was held for a bail hearing Wednesday. (Occurrence number GU26057056)

Suspects sought in brazen theft

The Guelph Police Service is trying to identify three women who stole nearly $1,900 worth of bedding and other items from a south-end business earlier this month.

Approximately 5 p.m. August 6, three women entered a business on Stone Road West. They placed a large amount of bedding, curtains and rugs in their carts and walked out of the store.

They were described as:

1.  20-25, 5’4”, medium build with brown hair in a bun and wearing a dark brown dress and white shoes

2.  20-25, 5’3”, slim build with brown hair in a bun and wearing a black and white dress and pink and white running shoes

3.  30-35, 5’6”, medium build with brown hair in a bun, wearing a pink and black dress, black shoes and carrying a black purse
