Assault, weapons charges after disturbance

A Guelph man faces assault and weapons charges after a woman reported having a knife pulled on her during a dispute Wednesday.

Just before 1 p.m. the victim reported she had been involved in a verbal altercation with a man known to her when he pulled out a knife and held it towards her while uttering a threat. Officers attended an address near Speedvale Avenue West and Elmira Road North and arrested the man.

A 21-year-old Guelph man is charged with assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats. He was held for a bail hearing Thursday. (Occurrence number GU26047324)

Arrest in business break-in

A Guelph man has been arrested following a break-in earlier this week at a north-end business.

Just after 9 a.m. Monday police were called to the business near Stevenson Street North and Speedvale Avenue East. The owner had arrived to find cash and a bag of power tools missing.

Security video showed a man gaining entry to the business through a back door approximately 3:45 a.m. Officers were able to identify the suspect.

On Wednesday morning a 38-year-old Guelph man was arrested for break and enter. He will appear in court November 13. (Occurrence number GU26057253)

Downtown home entered

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a reported break-in at a downtown home.

On Wednesday evening officers were called to an address near Wellington Street East and Neeve Street. The resident reported she had been away for a couple of days and came home to find a basement window open and her PlayStation 5 missing from the livingroom.
