Knife pulled on store clerk

A Guelph woman faces assault and weapons charges after a clerk at a downtown business had a knife pulled on her Friday afternoon.

Approximately 12:45 p.m. police were called to a business near Norfolk Street and Quebec Street. The complainant said she was working when a woman who has previously stolen from the business entered. The clerk asked her to leave and the woman became upset and removed a knife from her pocket, unfolding it and waving it towards the clerk before leaving the store.

Officers located the woman a short distance away and arrested her. A 22-year-old Guelph woman is charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault with a weapon. She will appear in court October 20. (Occurrence number GU26050769)

Robbery, assault police charges

A Guelph man is charged with robbery and assaulting police after an incident Friday afternoon.

Just before 3 p.m. police were called to a business near Eramosa Road and Stevenson Street North after a man walked out with a cart full of groceries. Two employees tried to stop him but the man uttered a threat causing them to fear for their safety.

The man was located by police a short distance away. He became verbally aggressive and threatening to officers and reached into his pocket implying he had a weapon. He physically struggled with officers trying to gain control before he was finally placed under arrest.

A 39-year-old Guelph man is charged with robbery, assault police and breaching a probation order. He was held for a bail hearing and has been released to appear in court August 28. (Occurrence number GU26050800)

Man arrested in peeping complaints

A Guelph man faces two counts of voyeurism after young women at a south-end townhouse complex reported someone looking in their windows.

In early June, a resident of Gordon Street reported seeing someone outside her window on a number of occasions. Around the same time a witness reported seeing a man looking in a window in the same complex while it appeared someone inside was changing their clothes.

During July a man was caught on motion-activated surveillance  cameras a number of times looking into units where young women live. During one of these times the man appeared to be touching himself.

On Friday afternoon a 24-year-old Guelph man was arrested for two counts of voyeurism and two counts of criminal harassment. He was held for a bail hearing and has been released to appear in court August 14. (Occurrence number GU26050814)

Bat brandished towards officers

A Guelph man faces several charges after brandishing a baseball bat towards officers downtown.

Just after 7 p.m. Friday officers spotted a man downtown known to be wanted on a warrant for missing a court date. As they approached the man pointed the bat towards them while yelling at them. He was placed under arrest, and during a search officers located a spring-assisted knife.

A 37-year-old Guelph man faces new charges of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, failing to appear in court and six counts of breaching court orders. He was held for a bail hearing Wednesday. (Occurrence number GU26050875)
