Jeep stolen from driveway

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a Jeep was stolen from the owner’s driveway early Thursday.

Just before 6 a.m. a resident near Elmira Road South and Rochelle Drive reported her white four-door 2026 Wrangler had been stolen. A suspect in a light-coloured hoodie was captured on security video opening the hood before the vehicle was driven away.

The Jeep is described as having a black roof and fenders, steel aftermarket running boards and Willys decals on each side of the hood. Belongings including hockey goalie equipment were located inside.

On Wednesday, a Honda CRV stolen last month from the driveway of an east-end residence was recovered by police in a nearby jurisdiction and seized for examination.

 

Plate reader catches suspended driver

A Guelph woman was taken off the road Tuesday morning after she was caught driving while suspended.

Approximately 10:20 a.m. a Guelph Police Service officer was patrolling near Willow Road and Silvercreek Parkway North when the cruiser’s automated licence plate reader flagged a vehicle owned by a suspended driver. The car was stopped and the owner found to be behind the wheel.

A 30-year-old Guelph woman is charged with driving while suspended. She will appear in court November 18. (Occurrence number GU26051799)
