Sex assault, luring charges
A Guelph man faces several sexual assault and luring charges following an investigation involving a child.
In August, a 12-year-old girl disclosed to police she met a man on social media. Despite telling him her age, he began to send her explicit images of himself as well as pornographic clips. On September 1, an 18-year-old Guelph man was arrested for luring a person under 16, exposure to a person under 16 and distributing intimate images to a person under 16.
His phone was seized at the time of his arrest. Following an investigation by the Guelph Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit the man has been further charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and possessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material (formerly known as child pornography).
He will appear in court January 20.
$5,500 in cosmetics stolen
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after two suspects stole more than $5,500 in cosmetics from a south-end store.
On December 10, just before 6 p.m., a man and woman entered a business near Gordon Street and Clair Road. They attended the beauty and skincare aisle and quickly began placing items into the woman’s coat before walking out of the store.
Nearly 300 items were stolen. The suspects were described as:
1. Female, approximately 20, 5’5”, tanned skin, thin build, black hair, wearing a green jacket, grey shirt and black pants
2. Male, similar age, 5’7”, tanned skin, thin build, black curly hair, glasses, wearing a black jacket over tan hoodie, black pants and black shoes.

At least $30k in wire stolen in break-in
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after thousands of dollars in wire was stolen during a break-in to a west-end business.
On Monday morning, the manager of a business near Silvercreek Parkway North and Campbell Road arrived to find a hole had been cut in the wall to access the business. Investigation revealed a lock was cut off a gate to access the back of the building, where a hole was cut through a garage door.
Once inside, suspects cut through the drywall to access the complainant’s business. A quantity of wire valued at more than $30,000 was reported missing.

Stolen vehicle abandoned at pump
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a stolen vehicle was abandoned Tuesday morning at a south-end gas station.
Shortly before 10 a.m. police were called to a business near Gordon Street and Kortright Road after staff noted a silver Lexus had been parked at a pump for approximately eight hours.
Investigation revealed the vehicle had been stolen from Halton Region. The investigation is ongoing.
