West-end businesses entered

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after break-ins were reported Thursday morning to four west-end businesses.

Approximately 7:45 a.m. police were called to a business near Massey Road and Elmira Road North after the property manager arrived to find a broken window. Officers discovered a rear exterior window was smashed, as well as a secondary window which allowed access into the business.

A quantity of power tools were stolen and a large hole had been cut in the drywall in an apparently unsuccessful attempt to gain entry to a neighbouring business. A representative of that business had responded to an alarm at 1:15 a.m. but did not call police as it appeared no entry was gained.

While canvassing the area, police discovered trailers and storage containers at two other nearby businesses had been entered by cutting off the locks. A backpack leaf blower was reported stolen.

Break-ins to homes at construction site

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after three townhouses at a construction site were entered.

On Thursday police were dispatched to a development in the north end after workers discovered the break-ins. Two of the units have been finished but are not yet occupied, while the third is still under construction.

A water heater, water softener, compressor and batteries with a total value of more than $5,000 were stolen.
