Man arrested for possessing child abuse material
A Guelph man has been arrested after examination of devices seized in December revealed child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
The Guelph Police Service’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit began an investigation late last year after receiving information from the US-based National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children about materials being uploaded to a social media app.
In December, a search warrant was executed at an address near Victoria Road North and Woodlawn Road East and several devices were seized. One of these devices was found to contain child sexual abuse and exploitation material, formerly known as child pornography.
On Tuesday a 30-year-old Guelph man was arrested. He will appear in court May 22.
This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
