Impaired charge after parked cars hit

A Guelph woman faces impaired and dangerous driving charges after colliding with two parked cars in a south-end parking lot Monday afternoon.

Just before 12:30 p.m. police were called to a business on Stone Road East where they found a car wedged between two parked cars, with the driver unable to exit her vehicle. Officers spoke to her and immediately detected an odour of alcohol on her breath.

After failing a roadside breath test she was arrested and transported to the police station, where further tests confirmed she had more than twice the legal amount of alcohol in her system.

A 67-year-old Guelph woman is charged with impaired driving and dangerous driving. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for seven days. She will appear in court February 13.

The Guelph Police Service would like to encourage the public to consume alcohol and cannabis responsibly. Please don’t drive if you are going to consume alcohol or cannabis, and please ensure that you plan ahead so that you have a safe ride home. Anyone who spots a suspected impaired driver is asked to immediately call 911.
