Thousands in damage during theft attempt

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after suspects were unsuccessful in stealing a pickup but caused thousands of dollars in damage.

On Thursday morning, the owner of a business on Woodlawn Road West reported the theft attempt. Approximately 1 a.m. Thursday, three suspects arrived in a silver Honda sedan and parked beside a 2002 GMC Sierra.

Two of the suspects were able to enter the vehicle but were unable to start it. The business owner reported the vehicle was not operable as the transmission had been removed for repairs. The suspects caused an estimated $5,000 in damage to the truck.

Break-in to residential garage

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after the attached garage of a south-end home was entered overnight.

Approximately 1:30 a.m. Friday, a resident near Kortright Road West and Rickson Avenue checked his garage after receiving a notification his car’s door was open. Both vehicles had been entered and rummaged through, and an exterior garage door had been forced open.

An orange cordless drill was confirmed to be missing. It is not yet known what else was stolen.
