Business entered Friday night
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after receiving a report that an East-end restaurant was entered sometime between its closing on Friday night and its opening on Saturday morning.
It was reported that 5 bottles of alcohol, $100 cash, a tablet, and a cell phone were taken from the restaurant, which is located near the intersection of Victoria Road and Grange Road.

$28,000 lost in phone scam
The Guelph Police Service is investigating a reported phone scam, which saw a Guelph resident losing approximately $28,000.
On Saturday night at approximately 9:00 PM, the victim received a call from a 1-800 number and someone claiming to work for the financial institute that they used for their banking. The caller claimed that the email and phone number of the account holder had been compromised. The caller then provided the victim with some of their personal information and the last 4 digits of their account number.
Several text messages with verification codes were sent to the victim, to which they confirmed with the caller. Upon growing suspicious of the caller, the victim ended the call and called their financial institute to find their account wad flagged and frozen due to suspicious activity.
The Guelph Police service would like to remind everyone to be cautious when they receive phone calls involving requests for personal information and involving finances, and to hang up and call or attend the business yourself if you are concerned about a possible issue or breach of information.
Traffic stop leads to multiple charges
On Sunday afternoon, while on routine patrol, a Guelph Police Officer was alerted by their automated license plate recognition system of a vehicle with an expired license plate.
Police stopped the vehicle in the area of Arkell Road and Victoria Road. The driver of the vehicle provided officers with a false ID, which had been reported stolen in 2024. Upon further investigation, it was found that the driver, a 36-year-old Guelph male, was currently suspended from driving under multiple suspensions and wanted currently wanted on the strength of a Bench Warrant.
The male was taken to the Guelph Police Station, where he was additionally charged with: Identity fraud, obstruct peace officer, Failure to comply with an undertaking, Failure to attend court, Operation while prohibited, Driving while under suspension, Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit. The male was held for a bail hearing and had their vehicle impounded for 45 days.
