Drug charges after parties found passed-out

A Guelph man faces drug charges after a man and woman were found passed out in a vehicle Tuesday morning.

Approximately 7:30 a.m. police were called to check on two people passed out in a vehicle in a commercial parking lot on Stone Road West. A man was observed in the passenger seat with a glass pipe and lighter in his lap.

Officers searched the vehicle and located approximately 30 empty baggies as well as a case containing suspected cocaine, a vial of suspected fentanyl and two contaminated digital scales. A 38-year-old Guelph man is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possessing a controlled substance. He will appear in court October 9. (Occurrence number GU26046209)

 

Two watercraft stolen, then recovered

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after two watercraft were stolen from the same north-end neighbourhood and later recovered in Halton Region.

On Tuesday morning a resident near Victoria Road North and Woodlawn Road East reported his bass boat and trailer had been stolen from his driveway overnight.

A short time later another resident in the same neighborhood reported his Sea-Doo and trailer had been stolen from the driveway overnight. Both watercraft were later recovered from a carpool parking lot near Guelph Line and Highway 401.

Two stunt drivers parked

Two motorists were taken off the road for 30 days after they were separately caught stunt driving Tuesday evening.

Just after 5 p.m. a member of the Guelph Police Service Traffic Unit was patrolling on Kortright Road West when he clocked a black Audi travelling 116 km/h in the posted 50 km/h zone.

Approximately five hours later the same officer was patrolling on Woodlawn Road West near Michener Road when he clocked a grey Mazda travelling 109 km/h in the posted 60 km/h zone.

A 17-year-old Guelph male and 20-year-old Kitchener man are both charged with speeding and stunt driving. Both had their licences suspended for 30 days and their vehicles impounded for 14 days. A stunt driving conviction will attract a minimum licence suspension of one year, a minimum fine of $2,000 and six demerit points. (Occurrence numbers GU26046343, GU26046413)
