Teen apprehended after gun reports
A Guelph teenager was apprehended after two reports on the weekend of someone pointing a handgun at strangers.
Approximately 9:25 p.m. Friday, a man was walking in the area of Eramosa Road and Stevenson Street North when he saw a male pointing a firearm in his direction. He left the area and called police. The two are not known to each other.
Just before 2 p.m. Saturday, police were called to a neighbourhood close to that location for reports of someone pointing a handgun at houses and passing cars. Officers located the male and arrested him at gunpoint. A black pellet gun resembling a Glock handgun was seized.
The teen was apprehended and transported to hospital for a mental health assessment. The pellet gun was seized for destruction. (Occurrence numbers GU26043860, GU26043987)
Drug, weapons charges at park
A Guelph man faces drug and weapons charges after he was arrested in a downtown park.
Just after 7:30 p.m. Friday officers patrolling in Royal City Park observed a man smoking from a clear pipe within eyesight of families and young children using the park. The man was arrested and during a search officers located a spring-assisted knife.
A 30-year-old Guelph man is charged with possessing a controlled substance and possessing a prohibited weapon. He will appear in court September 29. (Occurrence number GU26043797)
Toyotas targeted by Guelph thieves
Toyota vehicles were a hot commodity for car thieves in Guelph this weekend.
On Saturday morning a resident of Victoria Road North reported his 2023 Toyota Tundra had been stolen overnight from his driveway. Broken glass was left behind. Later Saturday morning the truck was located abandoned near Downey Road and Ptarmigan Drive.
Also Saturday morning a North Bay man reported his black 2024 Tundra had been stolen from the parking lot of a south-end hotel. Again broken glass was found where the truck had been parked.
Later Saturday morning a Woodbridge woman reported her silver 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander stolen from the parking lot of a north-end hotel overnight. There was no evidence of damage to the vehicle.
On Sunday evening a Puslinch woman reported her white 2024 Lexus SUV had been stolen from a parkade in downtown Guelph sometime during the day. Broken glass was located in the parking spot.

The Guelph Police Service encourages residents to take steps to protect themselves from auto theft. This can include parking indoors when possible or in well-lit areas, ensuring vehicle doors and windows are closed and locked, employing anti-theft devices to prevent vehicles from being started or steered and using devices to block signals from electronic keys. Attempt business break-in
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after an attempted break-in at a west-end business.
Approximately 5:25 a.m. Saturday police were dispatched for an alarm at a business near Speedvale Avenue West and Marksam Road. Officers observed pry marks and other damage to a rear door however no entry had been gained.

Impaired charge after driving complaint
A Guelph man is charged with impaired driving after a driving complaint Saturday night.
Just before 11:30 p.m. police were called to a business on Woodlawn Road West after witnesses reported a possible impaired driver in the parking lot. Officers spoke to the driver and noted an odour of alcohol on his breath and other signs of impairment. After failing a roadside breath test the man was arrested and transported to the police station, where further tests revealed he had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
A 54-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 45 days. He will appear in court August 18.
The Guelph Police Service would like to encourage the public to be responsible if they choose to consume alcohol and cannabis. Please don’t drive if you are going to consume alcohol or cannabis, and please ensure that you plan ahead so that you have a safe ride home.
