Robbery suspect dropped ID
A Guelph woman is charged with robbery after a suspect dropped her identification while struggling with staff of a north-end business.
Approximately 8:30 p.m. Friday police were called to a business near Woodlawn Road and Woolwich Street. A woman entered the business and placed a number of items into a bag. As she tried to leave without paying an employee blocked her way.
A struggle ensued, during which the suspect attempted to bite the employee. During the struggle the woman dropped a number of items, including her identification.
She was located a short distance away and arrested. During a search officers located items determined to have been stolen from another nearby business.
A 33-year-old Guelph woman is charged with robbery and possessing stolen property under $5,000. She will appear in court September 11. (Occurrence number GU26042033)
Two south-end homes entered
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after two homes in the same south-end neighbourhood were entered over the weekend. It is not known if the two are related.
Saturday morning police were called to an address near Stone Road East and Village Green Drive. The owner had come home to find a number of windows open and footprints in her garden. It did not appear anything had been stolen.

On Sunday, another resident on the same street reported her home had been entered during the previous few days. She came home and found two windows open. A quantity of jewelry was reported missing.

Arrest for assaulting officer
A Guelph man has been arrested after an altercation which left a Guelph Police Service officer scarred.
On May 18, just after 11 p.m., police were called to a downtown location to assist paramedics with an agitated man. A struggle ensued during which the man grabbed an officer’s arm and squeezed it, leaving several nail marks and drawing blood.
The officer received medical attention and was left with scars from the assault.
A 26-year-old Guelph man was arrested early Saturday for assault police causing bodily harm. He was held for a bail hearing and has been released to appear in court July 17. (Occurrence number GU26032370)
Lexus stolen from hotel lot
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a New York woman had her Lexus stolen from the parking lot of a Guelph hotel.
Police received a call Saturday morning that the black Lexus SUV with New York licence plates had been stolen from the south-end hotel sometime overnight.

Impaired charge after collision
A Guelph woman is charged with impaired and dangerous driving following a collision Friday night.
Just after 8 p.m. police were called to Scottsdale Drive near Stone Road West. A man reported a woman had been following close behind him and honking her horn. When he attempted to pull over and let her pass she collided with his vehicle.
While speaking to the woman officers detected signs of impairment. After failing a roadside breath test she was transported to the police station, where further tests revealed she had three times the legal amount of alcohol in her system.
A 45-year-old Guelph woman is charged with impaired driving and dangerous driving. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for seven days. She will appear in court August 7.
The Guelph Police Service would like to encourage the public to be responsible if they choose to consume alcohol and cannabis. Please don’t drive if you are going to consume alcohol or cannabis, and please ensure that you plan ahead so that you have a safe ride home.
