Man arrested in luring investigation

A Guelph man has been arrested for luring after Guelph Police Service officers received information from investigators in Newfoundland.

On March 4, local officers received information from the RCMP. An undercover officer in Newfoundland posing as a 15-year-old girl has ongoing chats with a man, who engaged her in sexually explicit conversations and sent pornographic videos and explicit images of himself.

On Tuesday a warrant was executed at a south-end residence. A man was arrested and devices were seized as evidence for further examination.

A 38-year-old Guelph man is charged with two counts of luring a child under 16 and making sexually explicit material available to a person under 16. He will appear in court June 16. (Occurrence number GU26018922)

 

Indecent act investigation

The Guelph Police Service is investigating a reported indecent act Tuesday afternoon in a busy south-end park.

Approximately 5:20 p.m. police were called about an incident which reportedly took place just after 4 p.m. at W.E. Hamilton Park on Scottsdale Drive, which is close to several schools.

A 12-year-old girl and two friends were walking through the park when they saw a man standing in a bush area with his pants down masturbating. The girls yelled at the man, who quickly left the area.

He was described as a white man, 25-35, wearing a grey hoodie, black pants, a black backpack and a green and blue camo face covering. He was last seen on foot walking towards Stone Road Mall.

Arrest in $3,300 LCBO thefts

A Guelph man has been arrested following the theft of almost $3,300 in product from a Guelph LCBO.

Between March 31 and April 27, 2025, a man entered a west-end business on three occasions. Each time he placed numerous bottles of alcohol in shopping bags and walked out, making no attempt to pay.

LCBO investigators recognized the man from similar investigations in other jurisdictions.

On Tuesday a 30-year-old Guelph man was arrested on three counts of theft under $5,000. He was held for a bail hearing Friday. (Occurrence number GU26018954)
