Man arrested in stranger sexual assault

A Guelph man has been arrested after a woman reported being sexually assaulted by a stranger inside a business on the weekend.

Just before noon Saturday the victim reported she was entering a north-end business and saw a man outside, smiling at him to be polite. The man followed her inside and touched her in a sexual manner before fleeing the business.

On Wednesday afternoon the suspect was located and arrested. A 29-year-old Guelph man is charged with sexual assault, criminal harassment and breaching a probation order. He was held for a bail hearing Thursday. (Occurrence number GU26031742)

 

Charges after officer bitten

A Guelph man faces several charges after a Guelph Police Service officer was bitten Wednesday afternoon.

Approximately 12:45 p.m. police were called to a west-end neighbourhood after reports a man had used a chainsaw to cut down a For Sale sign on a neighbouring property. Investigation revealed the involved man was already wanted for mischief and other charges related to a dispute with a different neighbour.

The man was located and placed under arrest. At the police station he was combative and bit an officer on the forearm.

A 52-year-old Guelph man is charged with assault police, criminal harassment, two counts of mischief under $5,000 and uttering threats. He was held for a bail hearing Thursday. (Occurrence number GU26032740)

 

$8K in tools stolen from construction site

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after thousands of dollars in tools were stolen from an east-end construction site.

Police were called just after 2 p.m. Wednesday to an address near Starwood Drive and Watson Parkway North. Suspects had entered a unit under construction and stole tools valued at approximately $8,000.

The incident is under investigation.
