Drug, weapons charges
A Guelph woman faces drug and weapons charges after she was observed using drugs in public Wednesday morning.
Just before 11 a.m. a Guelph Police Service officer was patrolling on Woolwich Street near Speedvale Avenue when he saw the woman inside a bus shelter.
She was placed under arrest for possessing controlled substances, and during a search officers located eight individual packages of suspected fentanyl as well as a spring-assisted knife and pepper spray.
A 35-year-old Guelph woman is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon. She will appear in court July 28. (Occurrence number GU26029363)
Teen sprayed with noxious substance
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a youth was sprayed with a noxious substance in a busy plaza Wednesday afternoon.
At 12:25 p.m. emergency services were called to the plaza near Eramosa Road and Stevenson Street North. Inside a business they found an agitated 14-year-old who had been sprayed in the face with a noxious substance. He was transported to hospital by ambulance for treatment.
Officers observed possible pepper spray residue in the parking lot.
The investigation is ongoing. Man tries to hide, arrested during traffic stop
A Kitchener man who tried to hide from police during a traffic stop Wednesday was arrested on several charges.
Just before 1 p.m. Guelph Police Service officers observed the man driving a van with a female passenger in the east end. Officers were aware the man had an outstanding warrant and pulled the van over. The man initially tried to hide in the back of the van while the woman moved into the driver’s seat, but was eventually arrested on the warrant for missing a recent court date.
Investigation revealed the man is on two different bail orders with conditions including house arrest and not having contact with his female passenger. He is also a suspended driver.
A 33-year-old Kitchener man is charged with five counts of breaching bail conditions, failing to attend court and driving while suspended. He was held for a bail hearing Thursday. (Occurrence number GU26029392)
