Male Arrested During Break-In Attempt

A 33-year-old Guelph man was arrested Sunday night after a resident of an east-end home reported that someone had smashed a kitchen window and entered the residence.
The call was received shortly after 10:10 p.m. Police located a male matching the homeowner’s description near the residence, carrying a large breaker bar and with bloody hands.
The male was charged with Break and Enter, Possession of a Break-In Instrument, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. He was given a court date of January 13, 2026. 

Male Assaulted After Night Out

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a 21-year-old male reported being assaulted by multiple people early Friday morning.
Around 1:30 a.m., while on Macdonell Street, the male was inside a restaurant and became involved in a verbal argument with several other males. Upon exiting the restaurant, the caller advised that the same individuals followed him and assaulted him outside, resulting in minor injuries.

Stunt Driving Charges

Over the past 72 hours, the Guelph Police Service laid three separate charges for Performing Stunt Driving.
All three drivers received a mandatory 30-day driver’s licence suspension and had their vehicles impounded for 14 days.
The Guelph Police Service reminds everyone to follow posted speed limits and remember that any speed over 40 km/h above the limit within the city will result in a Stunt Driving Charge. 

Three Impaired Driving Charges

Over the past 72 hours, the Guelph Police Service stopped three separate individuals for impaired driving.
The Guelph Police Service, along with Wellington County OPP, has begun its Festive RIDE campaign, which will run until early January.
Please plan ahead: if you intend to drink or consume cannabis, arrange for a designated driver or a safe ride home.
