Tools stolen in business break-in
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after tools and butane were stolen during a break-in to an east-end business.
Approximately 4:40 a.m. Thursday police were dispatched to a reported break-in at a business near Victoria Road North and Grange Road. Officers arrived within minutes to find the front door unlocked but the business empty.
Two males were captured on security video inside the store, with one of them carrying a duffel bag which appeared full. Tools including a drill and a wrench set and a number of packages of butane were reported missing.
The suspects were described as two white males with their faces covered. One was wearing a black hoodie with Max Solutions on the back, a grey shirt underneath, black pants and brown boots. The second was wearing a black hoodie with white markings, black pants and black and white running shoes. They were last seen southbound towards Elizabeth Street.

Arrest for spitting on paramedic
A Guelph woman was arrested for assault Wednesday afternoon after a paramedic was spat on.
At 4:30 p.m. police were dispatched to an address on Woolwich Street near Speedvale Avenue. Paramedics from Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Service had attended for a woman in medical distress.
The woman became uncooperative and spat in the paramedic’s face.
A 27-year-old Guelph woman is charged with assault. She will appear in court January 13.
Parked car struck, driver charged
A Guelph man is charged with careless driving after a vehicle and utility box were struck Wednesday evening.
At 5:20 p.m. police were called to Watson Parkway North and Davison Drive. The caller advised her vehicle, which was parked on the street, had been struck. The suspect vehicle then left the road and hit a utility box.
A 25-year-old Guelph man is charged with careless driving.
Impaired driving arrest
A Puslinch man who was warned not to drive because he was intoxicated was arrested Wednesday morning for impaired driving.
At 10:30 a.m. police were called by staff of a business near Gordon Street and Clair Road. The caller advised a man had entered the business attempting to purchase alcohol, but staff refused as he appeared to be intoxicated. The manager of the business told the man if he drove police would be notified.
The man left in his pickup truck despite the warning. Officers located the truck on Arkell Road and pulled it over. The driver was unsteady on his feet and showing signs of impairment. He was arrested and transported to the police station, where tests revealed he had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
A 63-year-old Puslinch man is charged with impaired driving. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He will appear in court December 12.
The Guelph Police Service would like to encourage the public to consume alcohol and cannabis responsibly. Please don’t drive if you are going to consume alcohol or cannabis, and please ensure that you plan ahead so that you have a safe ride home. Anyone who spots a suspected impaired driver is asked to immediately call 911.
