Arrest for possessing child abuse material
A Guelph man has been arrested in an ongoing investigation regarding child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
In May, the Guelph Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit received information from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children about materials shared to a social media site.
Investigation led to a west-end address, where a search warrant was executed in June and electronic devices were seized. Days later a Guelph man was stopped as he crossed back into Canada from the United States and had his devices seized.
Following analysis of the devices a 45-year-old Guelph man was arrested Thursday and charged with possessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material (formerly known as child pornography) and making child sexual abuse and exploitation material available. He will appear in court January 5. (Occurrence number GU26030682)
