Third arrest after teen injured
A third person has been arrested after a Guelph teenager suffered facial injuries in a group assault last month.
The evening of September 28 the victim was inside a bus shelter near Stone Road Mall when he became involved in an altercation with another youth. Two other people became involved and began assaulting the victim, who was later treated for a broken tooth and broken facial bone.
An 18-year-old Guelph man and 16-year-old Guelph boy were previously arrested for assault causing bodily harm. On Friday morning a 12-year-old Guelph boy turned himself in and was arrested for the same charge. All accused have been released with upcoming court dates. (Occurrence number GU26066609)
Possible vehicle theft attempt
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after an apparent vehicle theft attempt early Tuesday.
Just after 1:30 a.m. police were called to the area of Victoria Road South and Decorso Drive. The complainant said he heard a smashing sound and looked outside to see two males attempting to enter his Toyota Land Cruiser. He yelled at the males who fled to a waiting vehicle. The Toyota’s sunroof was found to have a hole smashed in it.
The suspects were described as young males with slim builds. Both were wearing tight sweaters and had their faces covered. They fled in a sedan described as loud and possibly modified.

Driver caught at nearly triple speed limit
An Oakville man was taken off the road after he was caught Monday night driving nearly three times the speed limit in Guelph.
Just before 11 p.m. a member of the Guelph Police Service Traffic Unit was patrolling near Gordon Street and Dean Avenue when he clocked a BMW travelling 112 km/h in a posted 40 km/h zone.
An 18-year-old Oakville man is charged with speeding, stunt driving and careless driving. His licence was suspended for 30 days and the BMW, which was not his, was impounded for 14 days.
A stunt driving conviction will attract a minimum licence suspension of one year, a minimum fine of $2,000 and six demerit points. (Occurrence number GU26068637)
