Arrest after child left in vehicle
A Guelph woman has been arrested after her two-year-old son was left alone and found unconscious in a parked vehicle.
Approximately 6:20 p.m. June 29 a man called 911 to report a small child in a car outside a business on Woodlawn Road West. The man said he saw the child approximately 10 minutes earlier and when no parents came outside he opened the car to find the child unconscious, breathing heavily and sweating profusely. The vehicle was not running and the windows were open one to two inches.
The child was transported to hospital for assessment.
Following investigation, a 45-year-old Guelph woman was arrested Thursday for failing to provide necessaries of life. She will appear in court December 22. (Occurrence number GU26042685)
Student robbed in school bathroom
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a student reported being robbed in the bathroom of his high school Thursday.
Approximately 3 p.m. a Guelph Police Community Resource Officer was leaving the school when he was approached by the victim. The student said he was followed into the bathroom by two males, who pushed him against the wall and stole his wallet before fleeing.
School officials reviewed security video and confirmed the two males do not attend the school. They were described as:
1. Brown skin, black hair, goatee, black t-shirt, blue pants, red and white runners
2. Brown skin, black hair, black t-shirt, black pants, white runners
They were seen leaving the area in a white pick-up.

Three vehicle theft attempts in east end
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after three vehicle theft attempts in the east end early Friday.
Approximately 3:10 a.m. a resident near Watson Parkway North and Eastview Road reported an attempted theft of her 2025 Toyota 4Runner. Security video showed two males in hoodies and face coverings canvasing the house just after 2:30 a.m. with one apparently checking the vehicle’s VIN.
A short time later one of the males smashed a side window and was attempting to enter the vehicle when the complainant’s husband scared him off. The two fled in a silver sedan.
A short time later a resident of Eastview Road reported an attempted theft of his 2024 Toyota Tundra. He said he was alerted by the alarm sounding and looked outside to see a man running from the truck and getting into a silver sedan. The truck’s side window had been smashed and wires pulled from under the dash.
At approximately the same time, a resident near Grange Road and Victoria Road North reported he was awake and saw someone walking around his Honda CRV. He yelled at the man, who got into the passenger side of another CRV which quickly left the area.
The Guelph Police Service encourages residents to take steps to protect themselves from auto theft. This can include parking indoors when possible or in well-lit areas, ensuring vehicle doors and windows are closed and locked, employing anti-theft devices to prevent vehicles from being started or steered and using devices to block signals from electronic keys. Please report suspicious activity around unattended vehicles, especially during overnight hours.
