Retrieving property leads to arrest

A Guelph man has been arrested after breaking into a west-end business to retrieve his own property.

Approximately 8:40 a.m. Wednesday police were called to a business near Willow Road and Westwood Road after a passerby observed a smashed glass door. Investigation revealed a man had attended the business just after midnight to get property he left inside but found the doors locked. He threw a rock through the door, grabbed his belongings and left the area.

Officers recognized the man from security video.

Wednesday afternoon a 27-year-old Guelph man was located downtown and arrested for mischief under $5,000. He will appear in court December 18. (Occurrence number GU26064697)

Attempt break-in through roof

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after an attempt to break into a south-end business through the roof.

On Wednesday police were called to a plaza on Kortright Road West. The property manager had been investigating a complaint about water leaking into a business and discovered several holes had been drilled into the roof and insulation removed.

No entry was gained and it is believed the damage was done within the past two weeks.

Hyundai stolen from driveway in afternoon

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a Hyundai was stolen from a north-end driveway Wednesday afternoon.

Approximately 6:30 p.m. Wednesday a resident near Victoria Road North and Simmonds Drive reported her white 2017 Hyundai Elantra had been stolen during the previous three hours. The complainant still has both sets of keys.
