Home entered, three vehicles stolen

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after three vehicles were stolen following a break-in to a home.

Just after 8 a.m. Thursday police were called to an address near Willow Road and Applewood Crescent. The homeowner reported the house was entered overnight and items including a wallet and three sets of vehicle keys were stolen.

A Honda Odyssey van, Chevrolet Cruze and Subaru Impreza were all stolen. The Cruze and Impreza were later recovered nearby while the Honda was tracked through on-board GPS to Etobicoke. The owner’s credit cards were used to make several purchases.

Arrest after assault outside church

A Guelph man was arrested after an assault Thursday at a downtown church.

Approximately 12:35 p.m. police were called to the church by the caretaker. He advised of an altercation with a man who was loitering on the property and had been asked to leave. The man responded by uttering a threat before throwing an unknown glass item, which narrowly missed the complainant and smashed on the ground.

Officers reviewed security video of the incident. A short time later a 43-year-old Guelph man was located elsewhere in the downtown and arrested for assault with a weapon and uttering threats. He will appear in court November 20. (Occurrence number GU26059393)

False alarm prompts another arrest

A Guelph woman arrested Wednesday for assaulting three police officers responding to a disturbance was arrested again Thursday shortly after being released on bail.

Just after 4 p.m. emergency services were called to a fire alarm sounding at an apartment building near Speedvale Avenue East and Marlborough Road. Investigation revealed shortly after being released on bail the woman had attended an address she was ordered to stay away from, got into a dispute with another resident and pulled the fire alarm.

A 31-year-old Guelph woman is further charged with making a false fire alarm and two counts of breaching a bail order. She was held for another bail hearing Friday. (Occurrence number GU26059457)
