Attempted business break-in
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after an attempted break-in at a west-end business.
On Tuesday morning police were called to a business near Silvercreek Parkway North and Speedvale Avenue West. Staff reported damage to the back door, including fresh pry marks to the frame and lock area. Part of a tool was found on the ground.

One vehicle stolen, another attempt
The Guelph Police Service is investigating the theft of one vehicle and attempted theft of another in the same neighborhood early Tuesday.
Approximately 9:45 a.m. a resident of Waterloo Avenue reported his grey 2023 Honda Civic Sport had been stolen overnight from the parking lot of his apartment building. He reported finding broken glass in the area, including fragments he believed were from the sunroof.
A short time later a resident of an adjacent building reported an apparent attempted vehicle theft. He said he came downstairs to find the door handle of his 2024 Acura RDX had been pulled off and the sunroof was shattered.

The Guelph Police Service encourages residents to take steps to protect themselves from auto theft. This can include parking indoors when possible or in well-lit areas, ensuring vehicle doors and windows are closed and locked, employing anti-theft devices to prevent vehicles from being started or steered and using devices to block signals from electronic keys. Several charges after fleeing collision
A Hamilton man faces several charges and had his car taken off the road following a collision Tuesday afternoon.
Just after 5 p.m. a woman reported she had been rear-ended while stopped at Willow Road and Edinburgh Road North, causing significant damage to both vehicles. When she told the other driver she was calling police he walked away from the scene and was located approximately 30 minutes later.
An inspection of the vehicle revealed several defects including improper tires, no mufflers, faulty windshield wipers and no front licence plate.
A 20-year-old Hamilton man is charged with careless driving, fail to remain, operating an unsafe vehicle, driving without insurance and several equipment violations under the Highway Traffic Act. The vehicle’s licence plates were seized. (Occurrence number GU26060830)
