Noxious spray used in store robbery

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after an employee of an east-end business was sprayed in the face during a robbery early Wednesday.

Approximately 6:10 a.m. police received a 911 call from a customer at the business near York Road and Victoria Road South. The customer reported seeing a woman leaving and then going inside where she found the clerk in pain. Officers arrived minutes later and could detect an odour of noxious spray inside the store.

The clerk advised a woman tried to buy alcohol and other items. When the clerk refused to sell the alcohol due to the time of day, the woman removed something from her pocket and sprayed the clerk in the face before fleeing with the merchandise.

Police would like to speak to the female in the attached photos. Anyone with information is asked to call Constable Nick Dowe at 519-824-1212, ext. 7602, or email ndowe@guelphpolice.ca. (Occurrence number GU26068932)
