Pair arrested in 2023 infant death

A Guelph man and woman have been arrested in connection with the 2023 death of their infant son.

On January 25, 2023, emergency services were called to an apartment near downtown for a 20-month-old child who had been located deceased in the family home. A four-year-old child also lived in the home at the time.

Following an extensive investigation, a 36-year-old Guelph man and 30-year-old Guelph woman were arrested Tuesday by members of the Guelph Police Service Major Crime Unit. They are each charged with criminal negligence causing death and two counts of failing to provide necessities of life to a child. They were held for bail hearings Wednesday.
