Toronto man arrested for child luring

A Toronto man that was arrested for several counts of luring a child is now also charged with possessing child sexual abuse exploitation materials.

Between mid-November and late January, 2026, a Guelph Police Service detective conducted a proactive, online investigation posing as a 13-year-old girl. The officer was repeatedly contacted by an unknown male. The male sent sexually explicit messages attempting to meet the 13-year-old for a sexual purpose.

During the investigation, the Guelph officer learned that two other police services were conducting similar investigations and communicating with the same male.

On February 13, a 65-year-old Toronto man was arrested on 10 counts of luring a child under 16. A cell phone was subsequently seized and examined. As a result of this examination, he was further charged with possessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material. He will appear in court May 5.
