Trafficking arrest downtown Guelph

On July 21, a Guelph man was arrested for allegedly selling drugs to vulnerable individuals in our downtown.

At approximately 10:45 a.m. police responded to reports of a man meeting with individuals and receiving payment in exchange for suspected controlled substances.

Officers arrived and arrested the man. During a search police recovered several unlabeled pill bottles containing suspected Dilaudid and Percocet, two prescription opioids. They also located a scale and more than $600 cash.

“We remain committed to protecting our community by focusing enforcement efforts on those who seek to profit from the distribution of these illegal substances in our community. We will continue to work closely with our community partners to support individuals living with drug addiction, but illegal open drug use and the trafficking of these dangerous substances will not be tolerated,” said Guelph Police Chief Gord Cobey.  “We encourage our citizens to contact us when they witness any activities that cause them concern for their safety.”

A 66-year-old Guelph man is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. He was held for a bail hearing Wednesday.
