Two women seriously injured in collision

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after two women were seriously injured when they were struck by a car Friday morning.

Emergency services were called at 9:40 a.m. to the intersection of Speedvale Avenue West and Kathleen Street. Two women were crossing Speedvale Avenue when they were hit by a car making a left turn.

The women – aged 29 and 35 – were transported to a Hamilton trauma centre with serious injuries. The driver of the car, a 79-year-old Guelph woman, was not physically injured.

Speedvale Avenue was closed for approximately four hours. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash camera footage is asked to call Constable Erik Ugarte-Bravo at 519-824-1212, ext. 7365, or email eugarte-bravo@guelphpolice.ca
