Guelph Police Service launches new solution to improve non-emergency service

The Guelph Police Service is introducing a new automated response tool designed to support non-emergency calls and enhance service for the community.

Starting July 15, the system will streamline routine inquiries, enabling callers to quickly access information, complete tasks more efficiently and reduce unnecessary wait times.

“This is about using technology in a thoughtful and responsible way to better serve our community while supporting our members,” said Chief Gord Cobey. “By helping us manage routine non-emergency calls more efficiently, this solution ensures our communicators are available to focus on calls for service which need immediate and direct support.”

Emergency calls will continue to be managed by trained professionals, ensuring that callers in urgent situations can always speak directly with a communicator. By directing routine requests to the new system, Guelph Police Service communicators can dedicate more time and attention to emergency calls that will ultimately enhance public safety.

Community members can expect a more efficient experience when contacting the Guelph Police Service for non-emergency matters. The new system connects callers directly to the information they need, offers multilingual support and can handle a higher volume of routine calls to help ensure staff remain available to support more complex and urgent needs.

This initiative is part of the Service’s ongoing commitment to providing the best service possible while making effective use of public resources.
