Break in at construction site
A 43-year-old Guelph man faces several charges after a break-in at a southwest Guelph construction site early Thursday.
Approximately 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, police were called after a male was observed on security cameras inside the fenced site near Stone Road West and the Hanlon Parkway. When officers arrived, the male fled on foot but was arrested a short time later.
During the arrest, officers located several stolen items in his possession.
He is charged with break and enter with intent, disguise with intent, breaching probation and possessing property obtained by crime. He was held for a bail hearing.

Tools, sports equipment stolen from shed
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after power tools and sports equipment were stolen from a shed at a home near Exhibition Park.
Approximately 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, police were called to a residence after the homeowner discovered the shed had been entered. Video footage from the homeowner’s security cameras showed a male entering the property early Wednesday and leaving with several items.
The suspect is described as a white male, wearing black pants and black hoodie, a black baseball hat and carrying a grey or green backpack.

Police encourage residents to take steps that can make their property less attractive to thieves, including locking sheds and garages, keeping valuables out of sight and using motion lights or security cameras where possible. While these measures won’t prevent every theft, they can reduce risk and help capture evidence if a theft occurs.
Wallet stolen from vehicle
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a wallet was stolen from a vehicle in northwest Guelph.
Police were contacted Wednesday morning by a resident in the Marksam Park area after they discovered their vehicle had been entered sometime overnight and a wallet had been stolen.
The victim had been alerted by their bank about suspected fraudulent activity and later also learned that bank cards from the wallet had been used at a nearby business.
Police remind residents to lock their vehicles, remove wallets and other valuables and report suspicious activity to police.
