Police investigate after store employee assaulted
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after an employee at a north-end convenience store was assaulted Monday morning.
Shortly after 7:30 a.m. Monday morning, police were called to a business near Woodlawn Road East and Victoria Road North. The employee told police that a male had entered the store earlier in the morning and attempted to buy medication, but his payment card was declined. When the employee declined to provide the item without payment, the male swung his arms over the counter and struck the employee on the forearms.
The male left but returned approximately 45 minutes later and again asked for the item without payment. When he was refused, he spat toward the employee and swung at him again before leaving. The employee was not physically injured.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 35 years old, 6 feet tall with a slim build. At the time of the incident he was wearing a black jacket and baggy, stained jeans.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Kelly Uskin at 519-824-1212 x 7599 or by email at kuskin@guelphpolice.ca (Occurrence number GU26054956)

Residents are invited to register their security and doorbell cameras with the Guelph Police Service to make it faster and easier for officers to identify cameras that may have captured relevant information to an investigation.
Police also remind residents to protect themselves from auto theft by parking in a garage or well-lit area when possible, locking their vehicle every time and removing valuables from sight. Visible deterrents, such as steering wheel locks or brake pedal locks, can also make thieves think twice.
