Police looking for woman after assault

Guelph Police are looking for a woman after a resident was assaulted while walking in the area of Waterloo Avenue and Glasgow Street South on June 30.

The resident reported being approached by an unknown woman who yelled at them before striking them and fleeing the area. The resident was not seriously injured.

The suspect is described as a white woman, approximately 5’6” with a stocky build, short dark hair and extensive tattoos. She was wearing black clothing and carrying a large bag.

Three drivers charged with stunt driving

Three drivers are facing stunt driving charges after police conducted speed enforcement on Speedvale Avenue West the morning of June 30. Between 7:40 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., officers stopped three vehicles travelling more than 40 km/h over the posted 60 km/h limit.

  • A 41-year-old man was stopped after radar showed his vehicle travelling 101 km/h.
  • A 78-year-old man was stopped for driving 110 km/h.
  • A 42-year-old man was stopped after radar showed his vehicle travelling 101 km/h.

Each driver received an automatic 30-day licence suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment. If convicted, stunt driving carries a minimum one-year licence suspension, a minimum fine of $2,000 and six demerit points. (Occurrence numbers GU26042775, GU26042800 and GU26042845)

Police looking for man after a series of thefts

Guelph Police are looking for a man after a seasonal power tool was stolen from a Woodlawn Road business June 28.

Police have received four reports involving someone matching the same description targeting similar merchandise at the same location.

The suspect is described as male, approximately 35 to 45 years old, 5’6” and 140 pounds with a slim build, balding with dark hair on the sides. He was wearing a black sweater, black pants and black-and-white running shoes.
