SUV stolen and then crashed

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after an SUV was stolen and then crashed early Sunday morning.

Just after 4 a.m. Guelph Police Service officers were patrolling on Victoria Road South near Stone Road West when they located a 2025 Honda CRV which had left the road and struck a pole causing extensive damage.

The vehicle was unoccupied. Officers contacted the owner, who said the vehicle was in the parking lot of her east-end residence when she went to bed around 10 p.m. It is believed the collision occurred between 2:50 a.m. and 4:10 a.m.

Truck stolen from south end home

A Guelph resident contacted Guelph Police Service Monday after their vehicle had been stolen sometime during the overnight hours. The vehicle was a white 2025 King Ranch Ford F-150 with a two-toned grey bottom that had been parked in the driveway of their south-end Guelph home. The truck also contained some personal items including golf equipment and accessories. Tips for vehicle owners

The Guelph Police Service offers the following tips vehicle owners can take to protect themselves from auto theft:

• park indoors when possible or in well-lit areas
• ensure vehicle doors and windows are closed and locked
• employ anti-theft devices to prevent vehicles from being started or steered
• use devices to block signals from electronic keys

Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity around unattended vehicles to police, especially during overnight hours.
