New Guelph Police Service Dog has a Name

The results are in, and the community has chosen Kilo as the name of the Guelph Police Service’s newest police service dog. A total of 977 votes were cast, with Kilo receiving 63 per cent of the vote.

“We loved seeing the enthusiasm and discussions the naming opportunity generated,” said Inspector Andrew Goody. “We received some really nice messages from members of the community, including a letter from a local Grade 1/2 class sharing the results of their class vote and their excitement in welcoming Kilo to the Guelph Police Service.”

Kilo, a one-year-old Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix, and his handler have completed the first week of their 16-week training program. Once training is completed later in July, Kilo will join Echo in helping to keep the community safe.

The Guelph Police Service thanks residents for taking part in welcoming Kilo and looks forward to sharing updates when he officially begins serving the community.
